The ongoing battle of the last decade
When deciding to buy new computer equipment, users often ask the question: «What is better to buy: a laptop or a stationary computer?» There is no 100% answer here, because the final choice depends on the purpose of the purchase and further use. Do you need equipment for gaming battles, soft, applications or for work and study? Let’s find out.
A personal computer is a collection of individual elements that together make up a performance utility. A laptop, on the other hand, is a compact hardware that hides all the «power» in one case. Despite the external difference, the selection criteria are similar. It is worth considering that a computer is a kind of lego, the details and elements of which can be changed at your will. With a laptop, it will take more time and money, and therefore it is worthwhile to carefully review its characteristics when buying, comparing each detail.
Pros and cons of laptop
A laptop is the ideal unit for those who most of the time is outside of the house. Due to its mobility, compactness and light weight, it is easy to take it on a business trip or a cafe, while all the accumulated information will be in your bag. In this case you can always work, study or do anything else that you could do with a PC in the house.
Other advantages, for example:
-the ability to connect to Wi-Fi anywhere where the wireless network «catches»;
-autonomous operation from a battery, therefore there is no need to be near the outlet all the time;
-complete set based of the devices in one body (speakers, webcam, keyboard, touchpad - the same mouse), no need to buy additional items.
Despite the abundance of advantages, the laptop has its own disadvantages.
These include fragility and expensive repairs in case of breakage or damage. Another drawback is low performance when compared to a stationary PC. But the main disadvantage of the laptop is the impossibility of its improvement: the internal «filling» of such technology quickly becomes outdated, and it cannot be upgraded.
Advantages and disadvantages of a computer
A PC differs from a laptop, first of all, in its sizes. For a desktop computer, you need to allocate a permanent place in the room, purchase special furniture, and compactly arrange a large number of wires.
Despite this scale, its main advantages are in favor of buying a stationary PC:
Acceptable price. With the same performance of components of a laptop and a computer, the parts, in most cases, turns out to be cheaper.
The possibility of updating. Outdated parts are easily replaced with new ones. So, you can improve the memory, video card, processor, etc.
Utility. By purchasing a monitor with a diameter of 22 inches or higher for your computer (+ adding a TV tuner to it), you can easily make a small cinema in your home.
In addition, the permanent location of the desktop in one place excludes the possibility of mechanical damage, which significantly increases the service life of the equipment.
The disadvantages of equipment are directly related to its size. There are only 4 of them:
-Lack of mobility.
-A large number of parts and wires.
-To build a PC, all items are purchased separately.
-The computer requires a constant connection to electricity. To prevent the equipment from burning out during frequent power surges, you need to buy a power stabilizer.
PC or laptop: which is better in the end?
As a consumer of both PC and laptop I can say that, it’s always a situational decision, if you are sure that you could do all the work and study in your house and you want to play videogames or use any editing software, then a PC would definitely be profitable and powerful. On the other side if you are an outgoing person and your work or study requires a consistent progress, then laptop would be the perfect choice.
